If i owed someone money.. can they call the cops on me and arrest me?

so i owe this guy abuot 1200 bux... i told him that i would pay him a bit later cause i raelly odnt have the money now i lost my job ... but he has gotten so mad he has threaten me.. n said hes going to work with human resources and the manager at the place i work to get the cops after me and court n stuff... im scared but at the same time i cant do anything cause i just simply dont have the money yet n i said im sorry i told him that i already trying my best to pay him im not tryin to run away or anything.. but he still persist on getting the cops on me.. can he do what he says hes going to do?
